If students are looking to build their own website, TX Votes’ website can be used as a helpful guide or model.
Learning outcomes
The newsletter was meant to be an educational resource for UT students to receive regular civic information and present it in an accessible manner. We wanted our subscribers to learn about how to get involved in civic engagement by presenting them with available civic and legal opportunities. Our newsletter featured a civic article in each issue, so we can highlight various civic topics regularly. We also wanted to highlight a few news stories in local, state, and federal politics to help our subscribers be aware of current events and encourage them to learn more about these events. Many students want to be civically engaged but struggle on where to start. TX Votes and the Digital Committee sought to help Longhorns by making voting information and civic engagement accessible through our website and our newsletter.
