26th Amendment Resources

2021 is the 50th anniversary of the 26th Amendment, which lowered the national voting age to 18 and outlawed age discrimination in voting. The 26th Amendment Website provides resources to create programming, engage with local and state officials, explore the history, and uplift messaging content about the anniversary and surrounding campaign, as we strive to achieve the full promise of the 26th Amendment.

How would a campus best use this resource?
Use the guidance and examples to create and uplift content around the 26th Amendment, engage in outreach, and highlight where we must continue to work to achieve the amendment’s full promise.
Learning outcomes
– Coalition partners will engage their stakeholders on the work happening in our space to raise awareness of the barriers that young people, and particularly college students, have in participating in our democratic processes, drawing attention to the unfulfilled promise of the 26th Amendment. – Coalition partners will also have the tools and resources to join this collective campaign highlighting the shortcomings of the 26th Amendment as both racial justice and voter suppression issues.
