NASPAA’s twofold mission is to ensure excellence in education and training for public service and to promote the ideal of public service. We promote the ideal of public service globally. We want the best prepared students to enter public service, and we want the best faculty to teach and research in our field. Everything we do focuses on these goals.
NASPAA believes our students should be leaders in civic engagement and have their voices heard in the public policy process. We have relationships with public policy, affairs and administration faculty across 285 US higher education institutions. A subset of our schools offer programs or coursework in election administration. Our Pi Alpha Alpha honors society is full of Student Leaders we can engage with to encourage leading voting efforts on their campuses (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js4h_7ze2OQ; naspaa.org/doc/savannah-state-nvrd-social-media). NASPAA’s upcoming Publicases platform will include case studies and other experiential learning materials that focus on election administration, voter engagement, redistricting and more. We are in a position to collaborate with SLSV to engage our students, encourage our faculty to work with practitioners to develop learning materials and encourage our members to lobby their schools to participate in NSLVE.
