The Students Learn Students Vote (SLSV) Coalition, the largest nonpartisan network in the US dedicated to growing democratic participation among college students, announced today its goals for 2025. Totaling 18 objectives across six categories – strategic direction, connections, resources and training, programs, funding, and research – the SLSV Coalition’s 2025 goals lay out an ambitious agenda for a network whose programs reached more than 1400 college campuses in the last election cycle.

The SLSV Coalition began developing its 2025 goals with direct input from attendees of the 2024 National Student Vote Summit, the Coalition’s annual conference which gathered 330 leaders in the nonpartisan student voter engagement space – including 200 college students – at the University of Maryland, College Park, in the weeks following the 2024 presidential election. The Summit capped a year of record-setting engagement for SLSV, which is chronicled in the Coalition’s 2024 Annual Report, also released today.

The 2025 goals share the SLSV Coalition’s collective theme for the year ahead: “Democracy Doesn’t Stop.” The theme speaks to the Coalition’s focus on advancing and growing at a time when voting-focused groups may be tempted to pause and regroup, as well as the state and local elections – often overlooked compared to presidential elections – that will impact millions of voters in 2025. The 2025 goals focus on the following priorities:

  • Supporting campus partners as they adapt to changes in policies that impact their ability to conduct nonpartisan student voter engagement work that promotes participation and belonging among all students.
  • Adapting resources and strategies to fit partners’ needs for 2025, encompassing the coming state and local elections as well as changes brought about by the results of the 2024 election.
  • Continuing to advance SLSV Coalition programming including Campus Takeover of the Civic Holidays and Ask Every Student through strategic support and funding.
  • Strengthening the SLSV Coalition’s shared knowledge and connections by advancing research in key areas of the nonpartisan student vote space, and elevating and improving shared digital and in-person opportunities for learning and community.

“This is a critical moment for our democracy, and our Coalition is approaching it from a position of strength,” said SLSV Coalition Co-Founder and Executive Director Clarissa Unger. “The past year saw our Coalition grow in ways that impacted the 2024 election while also positioning us as a long-term movement to improve our country’s democracy by helping more young and first-time voters take part in it. We expect new challenges in 2025 and will take them on together as one of the country’s largest nonpartisan pro-democracy networks.”
